Diwali Festival 2022

The West Seniors Members hosted their annual Diwali Festival at the Laverton Community Hub on 15 October 2022. A special thanks to the Minister for Early Childhood and Pre-Prep, and Minister for Workplace Safety the Hon Ingrid Stitt for attending and giving a gracious speech.

The event started with Pundit Jitendra Sharma welcoming the auspicious occasion by providing a special speech, followed by traditional Indian dance performed by Nrityaarpana Dance Academy. The troupe also performed along side the West Seniors members in a stick dance called Dandia.

Food was a plenty and guests enjoyed the opportunity to taste and sample traditional Indian cuisine. Dessert being a huge hit.

Guests Mr Vijay and Mrs Kumar noted, “as far as we are concerned, we both believe that the event was very well organised by the [members]. We are looking forward to attending future events”.

A very special thanks to all the West Senior Members for hosting a wonderful Diwali Festival and a special mention to the MC Shyam Naidu for helping host the event.

The West Seniors Members look forward to next years Diwali Festival and they look forward to celebrating with the local community.
